OPD closed for 24 hours

IMPHAL, Aug 16: Condemning the brutal rape and murder of a lady doctor at RG Kar Medical College, Kolkata on August 9 and extending solidarity to the medical fraternity, RIMS as  well as member hospitals of the Association of Healthcare Providers India (AHPI)-Manipur Chapters have decided to close OPD  services for 24 hours from 6 am of August 17 till 6 am of August 18.
An executive committee meeting of the Teachers’ and Medical Officers Association (TAMOA), RIMS held today resolved to support the Nationwide withdrawal of patient care services (OPD and elective surgeries) for 24 hours.
However, emergency and in-patient care services will continue as usual, said a press release issued by RIMS Media Cell.
Another press release issued by AHPI-Manipur Chapter said that its member hospitals will withdraw routine OPD, IPD, OT and diagnostic services for 24 hours from 6 am of August 17 to 6 am of August 18 but emergency services will remain open.
IMA Manipur State Branch and AHPI-Manipur Chapter are observing the Nationwide withdrawal of services in collaboration with residents and students of all medical colleges of Manipur (RIMS, JNIMS, SAHS and CMC) and all hospitals and clinics of Manipur for 24 hours, said a press release issued by IMA Manipur State Branch.
Extending support to IMA’s decision, Indian Dental Association (IDA), Manipur State Branch too has decided to withdraw dental services for 24 hours from August 17 to August 18.
