IMPHAL, Aug 11 : The Thadou Community International has reiterated its appeal to Chief Minister N Biren Singh to make a formal statement in the Assembly regarding the tribe's identity.
It reiterated that the tribe must be referred to as Thadou.
In a statement today, the Thadou Community International (TCI) expressed its heartfelt gratitude to Sapam Kunjakeswor Singh (Keba), MLA of Patsoi AC for his prompt and supportive response to "our open letter addressed to N Biren Singh, Chief Minister, and the people of Manipur."
Notably, the TCI had asserted that the Thadou tribe is distinct and any confusion with other tribes amounts to being racist, abusive, disrespectful, traumatizing and it puts the Thadou tribe in poor light.
It had stated that “We are part and parcel of the larger family group called the Zo/Mizo conglomerate. Any name calling beside Zo/Mizo will not be tolerated and will be perceived as a wilful and intentional insult to demean the Thadou tribe”.
