Laitonjam Rishikanta takes Mr Imphal West title

IMPHAL, Aug 11 : Laitonjam Rishikanta of United Gym, Naoremthong was crowned Mr Imphal West in the 19th Mr Imphal West Bodybuilding Championship 2024 which was held this afternoon at Naorem Laishram Khullen Leikai community hall.
As many as 41 athletes from different gyms and fitness centres competed for top honours in junior, senior masters men's bodybuilding and men's sports physique (open) events of the district level competition organised by Body Builders' Association of Imphal West under the aegis of the All Manipur Body Builders Association.
Laitonjam Rishikanta topped the senior men's bodybuilding competition to seal the district title as Royal Gym, Ningomthong's Yumnam Luwangba and Kangjam Jashobanta finished second and third. Kangleison Ningombam of Royal Gym secured the fourth place of the event as Maibam Romen of The Legend Gym, Sekmai finished fifth.
Rishikanta, Luwangba and Jashobanta were feted with cash prizes of Rs 20,000; 10,000 and 5,000 as the fourth and fifth place holders received Rs 3,000 and Rs 2,000 cash rewards.
The junior men's bodybuilding title in the meantime went to Rockyson Yanglem of TAT Gym, Yumnam Huidrom as he finished ahead of Jackson Khumbongmayum of World Gym, Yaiskul and Rajkumar Mojesh of Apunba Fitness Clan, Singjamei.
Meitankeishangbam Barnol of Soraisam Sports Infra Pvt Ltd, Langthabal and Yumnam Thomas of City Gym, Uripok Haorungbam Leikai were able to secure the fourth and fifth places in the junior men's bodybuilding event.
Meanwhile, Potsangbam Bonny of Glory Gym, Kwakeitel topped the Masters bodybuilding competition as Naorem Manisana of World Gym, Yaiskul; Longjam Ashokkumar of TAT Gym and Geetkumar Yumnam of United Gym, Naoremthong finished second, third and fourth.
Hawaibam Surdas of Maker Fitness Centre, Yairipok, on the other hand, emerged men's sports physique winner as Heisnam Deepu of World Gym, Minketa Hawaibam of Lion Gym Health and Fitness, Kwakeithel and Nongmaithem Wangthoi of Humanity Plus, Uripok Achom Leikai finished second, third and fourth.
The winners of the junior and masters' bodybuilding and men's physique event were also feted with Rs 10,000 each as second placed and third position holders were encouraged with cash prize of Rs 5,000 and Rs 3,000 respectively.
Fourth and fifth place holders were awarded Rs 2000 each.
