A statement issued by SOREPA publicity and organisation secretary MC Yaiphabi asserted that there is no reason for the people of Kangleipak/Manipur to join the Indian Independence Day celebration.
The revolutionary movements and liberation struggles of WESEA against India are legitimate as well as indispensable, it asserted.
Evolution of any Nation is a result of a long process of internal conflicts, revolutionary movements and liberation struggles. Without revolutionary movement and liberation struggles, no Nation can achieve independence or development or stability, it said.
The people of WESEA belong to the Mongoloid stock while the Indian people belong to the Aryan and Dravidian stocks. There is no similarity between the people of WESEA and the Indian people in terms of physical appearance, culture, traditions, food habits, language and dressing styles, SOREPA said.
It then called upon all the people to understand the Government of India’s ‘divide and rule’ policy aimed at creating divisions and conflicts among the people of WESEA.
It also asked the people to study the implantation of a huge Indian population in WESEA with an objective to annihilate all the indigenous peoples of the region.
SOREPA said that it’s time for all the odd 40 revolutionary groups of WESEA  to come together and fight the common enemy collectively with a new strategy.
It alleged that the violent conflict seen between two communities in Kangleipak/Manipur is a continuation of India’s ‘Divide and Rule’ policy and it is nothing new.
It is only India which stands to benefit from the conflict while the two communities will suffer colossal losses and long term hostility, SOREPA said.
With the commissioning  of the Loktak Hydroelectric  Project, India rendered Kangleipak/Manipur fully dependent on them (India) for food grains.
Loktak Hydroelectric Project submerged 83,450 paris of paddy fields which used to yield 83,45,000 bags of paddy annually, it said.
After destroying all the productive capacity of the region, India has transformed WESEA into a captive market, it continued.
By rendering WESEA fully dependent on India for food grains, the Government of India has created a notion that WESEA cannot survive independently, SOREPA said.
“However, if WESEA is politically independent, we can formulate our own economic policies and thus create a self-reliant and thriving economy”, it said.
