Shishu Nistha Niketan's Dayanand tops 1st DCA Inter School Chess Tournament

IMPHAL, Jul 8 : Thoudam Dayanand of Shishu Nistha Niketan won the title of the 1st DCA Inter School Chess Tournament organised by D-Chess Academy, Uripok Khoisnam Leikai at Pitambara English School.
Dayanand who reads in Class VIII scored 9 of 9 wins in the tournament participated by 327 players from across different schools in the State to earn the top prize carrying Rs 10,000 cash component, trophy and a certificate as Class VI student of Ramakrishna Mission,  Sougaijam Lemba  finished second on 8 points (BH 56) after 9 rounds to contend with a cash prize of Rs 7,000.
Khagokpam Nowboy of Arena of Learning (Class IX: 8 pts, BH: 54.5) and Oinam Khelemba of KVS-Langjing (Class XII : 8 pts, BH: 53.5) meanwhile finished third and fourth to settle with cash prize of Rs 5,000 and Rs 3,000 respectively as Yumnam Yaingamba of Ramakrishna Mission School (Class VI: 7.5 pts, BH: 59), Maibam Yohenba of Shishu Nistha Niketan (Class XII: 7.5 pts, BH: 55) and Chabungbam Dinesh of Pitambara English School (Class VI: 7.5 pts, BH: 52) finished fifth, sixth and seventh to respectively win Rs 2,000; Rs 1,500 and Rs 1,000 each.
Ngairangbam Nungshithoi of KV Langjing (7 pts, BH: 62), Brahmacharimayum Anjipa Sharma of Imphal Valley School (7 pts, BH: 60) and Sougaijam Nadia of Heritage Convent (7 pts, BH: 53.5) who finished eighth, ninth and tenth were also feted with cash prize of Rs 1,000 each.
Other outstanding players in various Class segments were also feted. They include Rodu Pou of St Joseph's Higher Secondary School (7 pts) and Potsangbam Aastha of UNACCO (6.5 pts) who were adjudged best boys and girls in class VI to VIII category; Lairenjam Lanchenba of Heritage Convent (7 pts) and Nongthombam Jojo of Nirmalabas High School (6.5 pts) who were named best boy and girl in the Class III to V segment; Achoibam Hoodson Luwang of Tiny Tot's (6.5 pts) and Ira Shangkar of UNACCO (3 pts) who were declared best boy and girl in the Class II and below category.
Best DCA players (three rated and unrated each)  and youngest boy, Loitongbam Silheiba  of Divine Educational Institute were also feted as Pitambara English School (317.5 points), St Joseph's Higher Secondary School (301.5 pts) and Maria Montessori School (100 points) were adjudged best top three schools.
