All India Inter SAI Karate Championship STC Naharlagun emerge champions, STC Imphal finish runners up

IMPHAL, Jul 8 : STC Naharlagun (Arunachal Pradesh) emerged the champions of the All India Inter SAI Karate Championship hosted by SAI NERC, Imphal at Khuman Lampak.
STC Naharlagun amassed 20 gold, 9 silver and 5 bronze medals to finish atop while hosts STC Imphal managed 11 gold, 7 silver and 6 bronze medals to settle for the runners up spot. STC Shillong finished third on 19 medals including 5 gold, 8 silver and 6 bronze medals in the championship as STC Jabalpur gathered 5 gold, 5 silver and 3 bronze medals to finish fourth.
The last day of the three day championship saw STC Imphal clinch two gold medals as STC Jabalpur and STC Naharlagun shared a gold medal apiece.
L Ansaraj won STC Imphal a kumite gold medal in the cadet boys' -55 kg category competition defeating Subash Bagang of STC Naharlagun in the final before Shri Krishna earned STC Jabalpur a gold medal by defeating Kutung Nampe of STC Naharlagun in the junior boys' -55 kg final.
Shandarson Nongrem of STC Shillong finished with the bronze medal in the junior boys' -55 kg competition.
Bangram Lamnio of STC Naharlagun in the meantime sealed the senior boys -67 kg category gold medal defeating Devansh KR Sharma of STC Naharlagun in the final as Albert Jyrwa of STC Shillong settled for the bronze medal.
Meanwhile the junior girls' -59 kg category gold medal went to Kh Madhusmita of STC Imphal as she defeated Sonia Londa of STC Naharlagun in the final. Daphilahun of STC Meghalaya finished third in the same event to settle for a bronze medal.
The championship was formally closed in the presence of Padmashree awardee and Olympian N Kunjarani who is also the Commandant of Group Centre, CRPF Langjing; Maibam Ramani Chanu, Centre In-Charge, STC Imphal; Laijing L Maring, Assistant Director (P&A), SAI NERC, Imphal; L Rinky Singh, Centre In-Charge, STC-Utlou; Th Ibotombi Singh, retd Centre In-Charge, STC-Takyel; Ch Chandrajit, retd Centre In-Charge STC Takyel; T Nilamani, retd Centre In-Charge, SAI NCOE, Imphal; B Ranjana Devi, Retd Centre In-Charge, STC-Utlou and M Bankim Singh, secretary, Manipur Amateur Karate-Do Association as dignitaries.
