IMPHAL, Jul 3
A dedicated team of Imphal Naga Forum led by convenor Ambition Anth has reached out to the people affected by the recent floods and hail storms in the State.
According to a release issued by Imphal Naga Forum, the team reached out to the victims of natural disasters from selected clubs and localities spread across Imphal by distributing relief items in the spirit of camaraderie, love and solidarity with the less fortunate people of the State.
Ambition Anth with his trusted colleagues took great pain in arranging relief materials and handed them over to the affected people.
Guided, motivated and inspired by the biblical passage from the Old Testament, the functionaries of the Imphal Naga Forum, donated 300 pieces of mattresses, 40 pieces of tarpaulins and 50 pack of clothes for children to deserving victims of the hailstorms, floods, natural disasters and the current ethnic conflicts.
Speaking to media persons at the office of Imphal Naga Forum, Ambition Anth said that the forum was deeply moved by the plight, difficulties, inconveniences and sufferings of the people who had to endure the civil war like situation in the State.
He asserted that nature has been very harsh to the denizens of Manipur as they have to endure natural disasters like hail storms and flash floods destroying rooftops, standing crops and inundated paddy fields and thousands of residential homes throwing lives out of gear.
Notably, the Imphal Naga Forum, a body of Naga intellectuals, social activists and University faculty members was floated on June 6, 2023 to address and mitigate the apprehensions, inconveniences and sense of insecurity among the Nagas in Imphal valley following the outbreak of large scale violence in some parts of Manipur between the majority Meiteis and the Kuki-Zo people.
It has held various interactive meetings with their valley based counterparts and civil bodies to end the raging ethnic conflicts and restore an atmosphere of peace and prosperity in the trouble-torn state of Manipur.
