The Dream

My throat parched, fear gripped tight,
My head spun wildly, I couldn't control,
I couldn't move, not even an inch,
I called for my friends, in a desperate pinch.

They brought me water, but a pit lay between,
An impassable chasm, a daunting ravine
I  reached out my hand but movement denied,
Voices around me, ''Take this'', they cried.

I couldn't move, paralyzed by despair,
Another friend questioned how I got there.
They couldn't aid, nor could I break free,
Lost in sorrow, an unseen plea.

Then I awake, my eyes wet with tears,
Reality mirrored my deepest fears.
Invisible, forgotten, I long to conceal,
To lock myself away, from the pain I feel

Reflecting on the dream, by my window, I sat,
With my cat in my lap, we watched the dawn's chat.
The sun was rising, birds began to sing,
A new day was coming, with hope it would bring.

This is life, I mused, with its sorrow and strain,
We bear our burdens, endure the pain.
Yet tomorrow the sun will rise again,
And I'll find the courage to face the rain.

To live, to accept, to overcome my plight,
For in each dawn, there's a promise of light.
