Huge cache of arms recovered

IMPHAL, Jul 19 : A combined team of Indian Army, Kangpokpi District Police and Imphal East District Police have recovered a large cache of arms and ammunition from the fringe area of Chanung Top in Imphal East today as part of a three-day search and recovery operation.
The operation was launched on July 17 following reliable inputs about the presence of a significant amount of arms and ammunition in the area.
A trained Explosive Detection Army Dog and Infantry Patrol Dog were used during the operation which led to the recovery of thirteen Long Range Mortars, four Burmese Iron Rod IED, one modified Lathode Grenade Launcher, one Heckler & Koch G3 Rifle, one Japanese 303 Rifle, one 303 Rifle, four improvised 303 Rifle, one 22 Pistol, one No 36 Grenade, twenty four live Burmese IED, one local IED, five Heckler & Koch G3 live rounds, seventy-one live AK 47 ammunition, thirty-four live 5.56mm ammunition, five 12 Bore rounds, one HK G3 magazine, one 303 Rifle magazine, one .22 Pistol magazine, two Chinese radio set, five Lathode Grenade empty case, four empty shell of Pompi bomb and other war like stores.
An FIR has been lodged in this connection and the recovered weapons and ammunition have been handed over to Manipur police.
The operation successfully thwarted the nefarious plans of miscreants. However no arrests were made.
