Non-State Badminton tourney : Stage set for men's singles semi-finals

IMPHAL, Jul 14 : The semi-finals line up for the men's singles competition in the 1st Thongam Ibetombi Devi Memorial Non-State Badminton Tournament have been completed today with the conclusion of the quarterfinals.
Atom Power of IE, AS Khangamapam of Kamjong, RK Thoungamba of Bisnupur and Soram Arbin of Thoubal all  made their way to the men's singles semifinals today.
Atom Power knocked out Thoubal's Maisnam Basantaraj 21-11, 21-9 in the first quarterfinal match as AS Khangamapam outlasted Thoubal's Takhellambam Hemjit 21-10, 21-8 in the second quarterfinal match.
In the third quarterfinal match, RK Thoungamba overwhelmed IW's Maisnam Roshan 21-17, 21-12 to book his semi-final ticket before Soram Arvind edged out Kingson Thono of Senapati 20-22, 21-16, 21-16 in the last quarterfinal match.
The semi-final line up for the men's doubles competition were also completed today.
Soibam Mishan and Thingom Theam made it to the men's doubles semis with a 21-15, 21-19 win over Konthoujam Arvind and SS Joel Kamei in an all Imphal West quarterfinal clash before N Alex and Th Ramananda IW to the better of Thoubal's Kh Dilip and M Basantaraj 21-18, 19-21, 21-18 in the second quarter-final match.
In the third quarterfinal match, AS Khangamapam and Pouchundibou outlasted Senapati and IW pair of Kingson Thono and Shaileng K Shimray 21-13, 21-10 while Konsam  Netajit and M Sanathoi of Imphal East overcame S Arbin and Sumanta Waikhom 21-7, 24-22 in the last quarterfinal match.
The semi-final line up for the U-15 boys' singles, U-11 boys' singles, U-13 girls' singles, U-13 boys' doubles and other categories were also completed today.
Stage set for mixed doubles final
It will be an all Senapati clash in the mixed doubles final as the pair of Buhbu Landumai and Veronica Inka, and Wungmayo Vasum and Charani Rozina posted semi-final victories today.
In the first semi-final match, Buhbu Landumai and Veronica Inka edged out Imphal West's pair of Yumnam Luhenba and Soraisam Kanchan 21-16, 19-21, 21-8 to confirm their place in the final before Wungmayo and Charanai Rozina overcame Kamjong-Ukhrul pair of AS Khangamapam and Worrinchon Rainam 21-15, 10-21, 21-18.
L Mangal vs Wungmayo Vashum in U-19 boys' singles title clash
Laishram Mangal of IW will face off against Wungmayo Vashum of Ukhrul in the title clash of the U-19 boys singles competition.
Mangal reached the final with a hardfought 13-21, 21-17, 21-15 comeback win over Th Kamaljit Singha of Jiribam in the first semi-final match staged today.
Wungmayo Vashum meanwhile sealed his final ticket with an easy 21-6, 21-2 win over Sylse Longjam of Imphal West.
