"Disturbance-free education zone" poster campaign launched

IMPHAL, Jul 11 : The Coordinating Committee on Disturbance Free Educational Zone Demand, an apex body of various student and teacher bodies, has launched a poster campaign for "disturbance-free education zone" in the State.
Today, hundreds of people including school van drivers formed a human chain on the highway in front of Little Flowers School, Imphal to campaign for ‘disturbance-free education zone’.
Speaking to media persons, Democratic Students Alliance of Manipur (DESAM) president and Coordinating Committee on Disturbance Free Educational Zone Demand convenor Mayengbam Somorjit Meetei said that the committee has been campaigning for the cause since 2008.
Concerned with many incidents and issues that have been hampering the education system in the State, the co-ordinating committee was formed to make education a disturbance free zone, he added.
Highlighting that six resolutions were taken during the 17th Education Free Zone Demand Day observation at Manipur College on July 5, 2024, he continued that it was decided to organise different form of campaigns from July 5-15, 2024 and subsequently the poster campaign was launched in collaboration with the association of school van drivers.
He also elaborated on the need to make education institutions free from all kinds of disturbances that would disturb the academic atmosphere of the students.
Somorjit further appealed to all to make all the educational institutions a disturbance-free education zone in the interest of a brighter future for each and everyone.
