"One Day Judo Exhibition Programme" hosted in Moirang

MOIRANG, Jun 28 : Young Talent Judo Academy, Moirang today hosted a "One Day Judo Exhibition Programme at Moirang Okshongbung Leikai Mandap in collaboration with local club and Meira Paibi organisation today.
The programme hosted to encourage and promote Judo in the area was formally opened in the presence of Pandu Gagrai,  Senior Manager at NHPC; S Indrakumar, secretary, Manipur Judo Association and S Ranbir, vice president, Manipur Judo Association as dignitaries.
Speaking at the event, former India international and head coach of the Young Talent Judo Academy Khoirom Hemabati said that the academy has received enormous support from locals and as many as 100 young judakas are receiving training at the academy.
As a part of the programme 12 boys and girls demonstrated eye-catching shows as well as 5 bouts between players.
Hemabati, who lost her house in the ethnic clash and is presently taking shelter in a relief camp, further maintained that the academy has been able to produce National level gold medallists and contributing in bringing laurels to the State.
She also narrated how hard she had to struggle as she did not have a regular source of income despite having brought home many medals from National and international events during heyday. She has been running the academy and doing all possible to ensure that young judokas in her academy face a similar situation in days to come, she added.
The ongoing ethnic strife has left her homeless and compounded her hardships but she will continue to help the youngsters at her best level, continued Hemabati.
