Lamkang girl cracks IIT-JEE (A)

IMPHAL, Jun 21 : State lass Dilbung Ringum has become the first individual from Lamkang tribe to clear the prestigious IIT-JEE Advanced 2024.  
The prodigious young girl, who hails from P Ralringkhu village in Chandel district, secured an All India Rank (AIR) of 390 in the Scheduled Tribes (ST) category, according to a statement.
This achievement not only highlights her academic excellence but also marks a historic moment for her community and region where her success story has become a beacon of hope and inspiration for the youth. Notably, Dilbung underwent rigorous training programs at Narayana Coaching Centre in Guwahati to prepare for the IIT-JEE Advanced 2024.
In an interview, Dilbung expressed her gratitude and shared her aspirations. "I am incredibly grateful to my family, teachers, and the entire Lamkang community for their unwavering support and encouragement. This achievement is not just mine but belongs to everyone who believed in me. I hope this will inspire more students from our region to dream big and work hard to achieve their goals."
Overwhelmed with pride, her father spoke of the challenges Dilbung faced and overcame, especially highlighting a personal tragedy. "We always knew she was special and determined. Despite limited resources and the immense grief of losing her mother just a month before the exam, she never let go of her dreams. Today, she has made us and our entire community proud."
Local leaders and educationists have hailed Dilbung's success as a milestone. Plans are reportedly underway to honor her achievement and provide additional support for her future educational endeavors, added the statement.
