Senapati, Jun 20 : Another truck was set on fire at Kangpokpi last night at around 11.30.
The empty truck heading towards Dimapur along National Highway-2 was intercepted by some miscreants in between Kangpokpi District Headquarters and Changoubung Village and torched.
It is reported that the truck belonged to a Meetei individual. The driver and the second driver of the truck escaped unhurt.
As per police, a fire tender rushed to the spot from Kangpokpi District Headquarters and doused the fire.
It is said that the major portion of the truck's front side got severely damaged
The police suspect that this case of arson may be linked to the Meetei-Kuki clash.
This is the second incident of attack on commuters at Kangpokpi in less than three days as some miscreants had also torched and destroyed a bus carrying CRPF personnel at Thomas ground, Khangpokpi on June 17.
Police informed that they (Kangpokpi police) saved a Tata Winger earlier in the day which reportedly belongs to a Meetei Pangal individual from being burnt by a mob at Kangpokpi Bazar earlier.
It is reported that the Tata Winger was found surrounded by a large number of people at Kangpokpi Bazar who tried to burn it before the police foiled the attempt. The vehicle has been taken to the nearby police station.
