IMPHAL, Jun 20 : Volunteers of COCOMI's women wing stormed the residence of MAHUD Minister Yumnam Khamchand at Singjamei Yumnam Leikai today and asked him to make his stand clear on the prevailing situation in the State.
The team of COCOMI's women wing which was led by its convenor Y Leirak Leima assembled at Yumjao Lairembi Lampak first despite the security measures taken up by Imphal West police in the area.
The women managed to march upto the residential gate of Khemchand by holding different placards by overpowering the police.
Some of the placards read "Resign MLAs and Ministers who cannot protect Manipur" and "We won't allow India to work against the interest of Manipur as an appeasement policy to Kuki narco terrorists" among others.
Khemchand also came out from his residence and met the protesting women.
During the meeting, the protesters asked the Minister what his stand is on the prevailing situation, how to solve the crisis and whether he considers resigning for the sake of Manipur.
To the query, Khemchand responded that even the Second World War ended with a dialogue.
When the Minister was proposing that all stakeholders concerned can discuss on holding dialogue to resolve the crisis, the protesting women shouted that there is nothing to discuss between the foreigner Kukis and the indigenous Meeteis.
Khemchand and the protesting argued for a while, following which the Minister agreed to convey the aspiration of them (the women) to the Chief Minister.
