IMPHAL, May 31 : Even as parts of Manipur remain submerged due to continuous downpour, rescue and relief operations continued at several highly affected areas today.
Personnel of Manipur Police, Forest Department, Army, Assam Rifles, members of civil society organisations and volunteers were engaged in the relief and rescue operations at Thangal and Paona Keithel.
They provided relief materials to the people stuck in the market areas and evacuated many to safe locations. Heingang Police personnel carried out rescue operations in flood-hit Kairang area and rescued more than 20 people including minors. Locals and volunteers of CSOs conducted rescue operations at Nagaram near Little Clinic Hospital.
