Assam Rifles refutes, clarifies
Sir,
The Sangai Express had published an article dated 24 Apr 2024 'Sealed Border
fails to keep out Infiltrators.’ The article stated that ‘There has been an influx of Myanmar Nationals at Yangoubung Village located between Indo-Myanmar Border Pillars 74 and 75'.
The allegation is factually incorrect and has the potential to vitiate the security
environment and undermine the reputation of the security forces. Therefore, it is
imperative to address factual inaccuracies and misrepresentations in the article. In this regard, it is clarified that Assam Rifles is diligently maintaining a border sealing posture along the Indo-Myanmar border.
This is more pertinent, during the present ethnic crisis in the state wherein inimical elements try to spread rumours and ignite passions and create more viciousness.
Yours faithfully
Staff Officer (Public Relations & Media) of IGAR (South)
