Patriotic Writers Forum (PAWF), Manipur and the Cultural Forum, Manipur have extended heartfelt condolences at the demise of their lifetime member and writer Nongmaithem Singhajit Singh (NS Singh).
PAWF Manipur mourned NS Singh who was also a lifetime member of PAWF Guwahati, Assam during a condolence meeting held at its office located at Keishamthong Hodam Leirak.
According to a statement issued by Rakesh Naorem, secretary, PAWF, NS Singh breathed his last today at Raj Medicity Hospital due to an illness.
Forum president Naoroibam Khamba Luwang chaired the condolence meeting which was attended by Thokchom Chandra, former president; Rakesh naorem, secretary and other important members of the Forum namely Mani Tayenjam, Usham Sanatomba, Ibohanbi Mangang among others.
The Cultural Forum, Manipur also organised a condolence meeting and observed a two-minute silence to condole the passing of NS Singh.
The gathering also offered prayers for the deceased soul to rest in peace.
Born on January 7, 1956 at Khurai Soibam Leikai, Ayangpalli Road, NS Singh served in the Indian Railways for many years and retired as Deputy Chief Engineer in 2017.
Under the banner of PAWF Manipur, he was the editor of "Sheireng Amasung Samarendra" in 2018 and "Eigi Canvas" published under Imakhol in 2019. He was also the editor of "Important Acts and Treaties Associated with North Eastern States" published in 2004.
The late writer was also life member of Iramdam Miyamgi Apunba Khorjei Lup, Manipuri Literary Society Imphal, Progressive Writers Association, Manipur and Assam Manipuri Sahitya Parishad.
PAWF Manipur and Cultural Forum Manipur also shared in the grief of the bereaved family.
