Film Fest starts
IMPHAL, Mar 22 : The three-day Manipuri Film Festival organised by Heritage Art and Culture Centre (HACC) was kicked off at Manipur State Film Development Society (MSFDS), Palace Compound today.
The film festival was conducted under the aegis of North Eastern Council.
On the first day of the film festival today, Aribam Syam Sharma's “Imagi Ningthem” was screened.
Moirangthem Inao's “Abem” and “Nungshibagi Laman” are lined up to be screened on the second day while “Mitrang Keithel” from Homen D' Wai and “Yaiskulgee Pakhang Angaoba” are on the cards for the last day of the film festival. Addressing the gathering at today's ceremony, RK Nimai, retd IAS, advocated the use of new technology and machinery in film making in order to produce quality films that can compete at the global level. This will also ensure the continued progress of Manipuri film industry, he added.
Highlighting the talent of the artistes in the State's film industry, he stressed on the need to bring transformation in the industry while adding that it will be tough to bring development by sticking to the old way of filmmaking.
RK Nimai also called for increased focus on post production in the filmmaking process.
Other dignitaries present at the inaugural ceremony included L Surjakanta, chairman, Film Forum Manipur; Oinam Romen, film producer and P Bilash Singh, Director, Jawaharlal Nehru Manipur Dance Academy.
