IMPHAL, Mar 1 : THAU, Thangmeiband suffered a 61-run loss against FORCE, Kshetrigao in a crucial match that could fire them on top of the table of the 1st MNCA U-15 Women's Tournament today at PCC ground, Mayaikoibi.
Despite the result, THAU finished second below AKSDO, Khangabok to qualify for the final as FORCE ended up securing third place in the final league standing to miss a shot at the title clash.
FORCE had a shaky start to their innings after winning and toss and elected to bat first but managed to post a competitive total of 183 for all wickets down in 29 overs courtesy of Barkatun Khanam's quickfire 74 off 41 balls studded with 7 fours and five sixes.
Thoithoibi Ahongshang-bam found the breakthrough in removing Sumeiya Shahni 6 before dispatching  Sheikh Neha on duck to reduce FORCE to 45/2 after 7.2 overs.
Moirangthem Yaiphabi (4/35) and Megnoria Khundrakpam (2/29) combined well to make things hard for FORCE and eventually bowled them out for 183 runs. Their efforts however proved futile as the batting department failed to find their composure, saving opener Robeni Usham who added a painstakingly slow 83-ball 40 and eventually ended up adding 122 runs for 8 wickets.
FORCE's Barkatun Khanam returned with the best figures of 3/23 in her spell of 6 overs as Rahmatun Khanam, Farjiya and Sheikh Neha claimed a wicket apiece besides producing economical performances.
Barkatun Khanam who hit a half century and picked three wickets was adjudged player of the match.
The final match is yet to be scheduled.
