NONEY, Feb 8 : Strongly condemning the repeated disturbances and threats to NF Railways staff and passengers and transporters along NH-37, the Rongmei Naga Students Organisation Mani-pur (RNSOM) has cautioned any individual, communities or groups to abstain from disturbing the smooth functioning and operation of transport of essential commodities through railways and roadways in Rongmei Naga areas.
A statement issued by RNSOM has shed light on a recent incident wherein NF Railways staff were detained and later released after receiving death threats from "around 50 Kukis in camouflage" between Jiribam and Vangaichungpao on January 30.
In addition, RNSOM claimed that there is a report of threats circulating on social media warning of "unforeseen consequences for the train and its passengers" between Vangaichung- pao and Kaimai Station by "Kuki-Zo Volunteers Western Zone" against the operation of Jiribam-Khongsang (Sangrung) train.
In this regard, RNSOM asserted that the operation of NF Railways, atleast between Jiribam and Khongsang (Sangrung), is a great achievement of the Government which was a long awaited and cherished dream of the whole State. Despite the present issues plaguing the State, there should be uninterrupted supply of goods and commodities, RNSOM added.
RNSOM condemns such instances of intimidation and issuance of threats on one's life and cautioned the concerned individuals/groups to abstain from causing such disturbances in Rongmei Naga areas, especially under the administrative jurisdiction of Tamenglong and Noney districts.
Stating that RNSOM will continue to monitor the aforementioned areas, the Organisation has also urged any road transporters (Government and private) and NF Railways to feel free to approach RNSOM anytime in case of any disturbances or inconveniences along NH-37 and NF Railways route.
