IMPHAL, Feb 23
As per the directions of National Legal Services Authority (NALSA), a 1-day awareness cum interaction programme was organised by Manipur State Legal Services Authority (MASLSA) on Juvenile Justice Act, 2015 at Central Jail, Imphal.
The programme was conducted as a part of the "Restoring the Youth: Pan-India Campaign for Identifying Juveniles in Prisons and Rendering Legal Assistance-2024", said a release issued by MASLSA.
It was attended by Rajshree Yambem, Deputy Member Secretary, MASLSA and Khangembam Rojita, OSD, MASLSA along with Panel Lawyers of Jail Legal Aid Clinic, officials/staff and prisoners of Central Jail, Imphal.
Notably, the pan-India campaign aims at identifying persons currently in prison who were potentially minors at the time of offence and assisting them in filing the necessary applications for claim of juvenility before the appropriate Court and consequential transfer to Child Care Institutions in identified cases.
The participants were given awareness on Juvenile Justice Act, 2015 and the objective of the Pan-India Campaign by Rajshree Yambem, Khangembam Rojita and Lairenlakpam Pinky, Panel Lawyer.
The programme ended with a skit based on legal topics, such as 'Rights of Prisoners', performed by Nokphade Cultural Foundation.
