Stage set for NE Film Fest

Imphal, Feb 20 : The North East India Film Festival 2024 is set to begin from March 3 for a period of five days till March 7 in Imphal.
Altogether eight films-one each from Manipur and Meghalaya and six from Assam will take part in the festival to celebrate the cinema of North East India.
The North East India Film Festival will be jointly organised by the Directorate of Information and Public Relations (DIPR), Manipur; Film Forum Manipur (FFM); Art and Culture Department and  Manipur State Film Development Society (MSFDS) under the sponsorship of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting.
The eight films were selected by a review committee chaired  by acclaimed director Oken Amakcham to compete for different awards from among the 13 films submitted.
Speaking to the media in this regard at DIPR auditorium today, chairman of the film festival organising committee Y Nilachandra said that the eight films will be screened at MSFDS auditorium at Palace Compound and Tanthapolis Cinema at Lamphel.
DIPR, Manipur Joint Director T Romesh, on the other hand, said that they sent the recommendation to host the film festival to the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting based on the proposal of Thouna Films.
Saying that the film festival will be largely academic in nature and give students of Mass Communication and others who have passion in film making to interact with field experts, Romesh maintained that there won't be any entry fee to watch the films.
