Manipur go down by 8 wickets to Gujarat

IMPHAL, Dec 31 : Manipur slumped to fifth straight loss in the Vijay Hazare Trophy 2024-25 Group A competition as they went down by 8 wickets to Gujarat at Sawai Mansingh Stadium, Jaipur in a match that was reduced to 29 overs an innings due to inclement weather conditions.
Gujarat chose to field first and bowled out Manipur for 95 runs in 26.4 overs before chasing down the target in just 12.3 overs riding on an unbeaten 71-run third wicket partnership between Aarya Desai (57 off 45 balls) and SD Chauhan (27 off 22 balls).
For Manipur, Ulenyai Khwairakpam 25, L Kishan Singha 19 not out, M Langlonyamba 14 and K Priyojit 13 managed double digit figures as three batters were dismissed on ducks.
Hemang Patel starred with the ball for Gujarat as he enjoyed a fifer (5/22 in 6 overs) while India international Ravi Bishnoi (2/4 in 4.4 overs) and CT Gaja (2/16 in 6 overs) shared 4 wickets.
 For Manipur, Thokchom Kishan claimed both the wickets to finish with the bowling figures of 2/29 in 3 overs.
Manipur will play Assam in the next match on January 3 at Jaipuria Vidhyalaya Ground, Jaipur
