IMPHAL, Dec 31 : Blue Hawk, Khurai Lamlong ended FORCE, Kshetrigao's hopes of making it to the semifinals as they registered a 105-run victory in a crucial Group A match of the 4th MNCA Superplate Tournament.
The win, fourth in six matches, at Model Hr Secondary and Oriental College ground also helped Blue Hawk climb to third place to remain in the hunt for the remaining semi-final ticket. Their final match against RULE will decide whether they can dislodge CDCC from second place and qualify for the semi-finals.
Blue Hawk won the toss and gathered 200 runs for 9 wickets in the allotted 35 overs before bundling out FORCE for 95 runs within 26.1 overs to seal the huge 105 run victory.
Ningombam Jackiechand 70 off 66 balls and Amom Guniram 68 off 72 balls struck half centuries to set up the commanding total of 200 runs in the first innings in which Mutum Shushil (3/27), Tashib Alam (2/35) and Md Islauddin (2/28) shared 7 wickets for FORCE.
In reply, FORCE struggled from the beginning before losing all the wickets at 95 as Ningombam Jackiechand (3/10) and Heisnam Samsung (3/21) shared a bulk of 6 wickets and Amum Guniram picked two wickets (2/18).
Jackiechand who produced an all-round performance was adjudged player of the match.
Elsewhere at Moijing Public Ground, UCC, Kangchup Road beat YUCC, Kwakeithel Moirangpurel by 4 wickets to end their campaign on a winning note.
Put in to bat first, YUCC amassed 178 runs for 9 wickets thanks to half centuries from M Amitkiyon 55 off 67 balls and Laishram Bidyashwor 53 off 65 balls but UCC cruised to winning 179 for 6 wickets in 29.4 overs riding on contributions from Thokchom Amarjit 47, Langpoklakpam Bipinkumar 37, Thangjam Anson 25 and Konsam Gulson 24 not out.
For UCC, Thokchom Yoihenba (3/26) and L Bipinkumar (3/46) led the bowling charge as Shyam (2/23) and Nongthombam Shyam (3/22) of YUCC picked three wickets apiece in a lost cause.
Bipinkumar, who produced an all round show, was adjudged player of the match.
