Superplate Tournament : CDCC end RCA's 6-game winning streak, keep semi-final hopes alive

IMPHAL, Dec 30 : CDCC, Sagolband Salam Leikai defeated RCA, Lilong by 3 runs to finish Group A campaign in the 4th MNCA Superplate Tournament with 5 wins and end RCA's 6-game winning streak.
The win also helped CDCC remain in the hunt for the second semi-final berth on 10 points and finish second below league leaders RCA.
CDCC won the toss today and were able to post 157 for all wickets down in 33.5 overs as RCA bowlers were brilliant enough. RCA however slumped to 154 all out in 31.4 overs of the to go down by 3 runs as CDCC bowlers surpassed their bowling performance.
Md Ataur Rahaman 28, Thoudam Monet 26 and Fm Sharif 20 were the main run getters for CDCC in the first innings that saw Naesh Hussain shine with a fifer (5/22) in his spell of 7 overs. Zamir Khan (2/23), Aziz Mirza (1/26) and Illiyas  (1/34) were also among the wickets for RCA.
In reply, RCA had a stuttering start and were reduced to  54/6  in 11.1 overs before Md Danish Khan (53 off 54 balls) and Aziz Mirza (31 off 57 balls) forged 88-runs for the 7th wicket to give some late hope.
Their departures at 142 in the 29th and the 30th over marked the turning point of the innings as the last three batters could add only 12 runs before they were dismissed in the fourth delivery of the 32nd over.
Mandingbam Surjit returned with the best bowling figures of CDCC with three wickets to his name (3/20) as Khursid Alam (2/31), Ksh Robert (2/25) and Mutum Jodiba (2/32) shared 6 wickets.
Mandingbam Surjit was adjudged player of the match.
