IMPHAL, Dec 28 : Even as the employees of the Board of Secondary Education Manipur (BOSEM) have suspended their pen down strike in view of the upcoming High School Leaving Certificate (HSLC) examinations, they have decided to wear black badges until the Government reviews the appointment of Akham Joykumar as the Chairman of the Board.
Listing a series of demands to the Government, a press release signed by 50 employees of BOSEM said that the Board Chairman should not interfere in any exam related works which are not defined in the Manipur Elementary & Secondary Education Act, 1972 such as in allocation of examination centres, setting/preparation of confidential materials, arranging flying squad and appointment of evaluators/scrutinizers etc.
The employees also demanded that the incumbent BOSEM Chairman should not interfere or involve in paper procurement, issuance of printing orders, or issuance of text books.
They said they will coordinate only with the DDO of the office as per the duties and functionalities of BOSEM employees as defined.
The employees also urged the Government to probe the arrest of a fraudster with a fake appointment order as a question setter extensively and find out whether any official of BOSEM is involved in the fraudulence.
The employees said that they will take up a democratic form of agitation if the conditions they have laid down are defied.
The pen down strike of BOSEM employees was withdrawn yesterday after they met the Education Minister.
