Dikho inaugurates MSU's Cultural Regale at Mao

Senapati, 27 Dec: The Cultural Regale, 2024 of the Mao Students Union (MSU) was inaugurated today by L Dikho, MLA of 48-Mao AC as the chief guest at Asufii Christian Institute, Punanamei, Mao.
Matekho Pekosii, president, Mao Students' Union in his welcome address stated that  Cultural Regale, 2024 of the students union which is held under the theme, "Honouring our Ancestors", is not just a celebration of the rich cultural heritage but a profound reflection of who we are as a people.
The program was stated to be significant as the Union marked the 91st anniversary of the Mao Students' Union, a milestone that reminded of the strength of their unity, the wisdom of its elders and the resilience of the traditions. Over the decades, the Union has stated to be a cornerstone for the development and empowerment of its people, playing a vital role in preserving their identity while promoting education and social progress.
Speaking as the chief guest, MLA Dikho stated that Mao people are blessed in different ways to have accepted Christianity ahead of other tribes in Senapati district.
When God has blessed the Mao people, the MLA urged the gathering to let others witness the good qualities of Mao people by spreading kindness and positivity wherever they go.
While Manipur has been toiling with conflicts, misunderstandings and full of problems everywhere, the MLA stated that Christ like leaders are required to change the society at present.
While urging the students community to give a constructive contribution, MLA Dikho urged all to be a channel of blessing to others.
Folk tunes and cultural items were showcased during the inaugural program.
More than 1,000 student delegates representing 31 units are taking part in the two days program.
Later, various competitions on folk dance, folk tale, folk song, etc were also held as part of the programme.
