IMPHAL, Dec 26 : Manipur ended 27th Sub-Junior National Sepaktakraw Championship with rich haul of 6 medals including four gold medals. The championship held at Mini Stadium, Trikarpur, Kasaragod, Kerala since December 22 concluded today.
Manipur boys, having sealed the gold medal in the team event, won both the quad and regu events gold to finish with three gold medals.
Manipur beat Assam 2-0 (15-5, 15-10) in the quad event final to seal a gold medal. Manipur defeated Odisha, Karnataka and MP in the league round to book their quarterfinal ticket.
In the quarterfinal, Manipur defeated Maharashtra 2-0 (15-8, 15-7) before beating Delhi 2-0 (15-10, 15-9) in the semi-final and completed the final line up.
Meanwhile in the regu final, Manipur defeated Bihar 17-15, 15-13 to stretch the gold medal haul. Earlier in the league stage Manipur defeated Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu and Delhi before beating Kerala 2-1 (15-13, 15-17, 15-11) in the quarterfinal and UP 2-1 (13-15, 15-7, 15-13) in the semi-final match.
Meanwhile, State girls finished with one gold and two silver medals with runners-up place finishes in the quad and regu event after having sealed the team event gold.
Manipur suffered a 1-2 loss (15-13, 9-15, 10-15) to Assam in the quad event final to settle with a silver medal.
Earlier in the league stage, Manipur girls eased past Goa, Gujarat and Andhra Pradesh to book their place in the quarterfinal. In the quarterfinal Manipur defeated Bihar 2-1 (17-16, 13-15, 15-7) before sealing their place in the final by defeating Maharashtra 2-0 (15-11, 15-9) in the semi-final.
Manipur girls also suffered another final loss, this time in the regu event, to bag a silver as they went down 1-2 (15-13, 11-15, 9-15) to Kerala.
Earlier in the league stage, Manipur girls got the better of Punjab, Madhya Pradesh and Goa before defeating UP 15-5, 17-15 in the quarterfinal and Assam 2-1 (15-7, 6-15, 15-7) in the semi-final to reach the final.
