IMPHAL, Dec 24
A delegation of Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) Manipur, led by state secretary Gautam Philem and state joint secretary RK Yaikhomba Singh, along with candidates appearing for the upcoming non-teaching recruitment examination conducted by Central Agricultural University (CAU), met the Vice-Chancellor of the university on Monday.
It may be mentioned that CAU is conducting a non-teaching recruitment examination on January 3 & 4, 2024 and ABVP has demanded the addition of Imphal as a center.
According to a release issued by ABVP Manipur, the meeting addressed the pressing concern and high financial stress faced by the appearing candidates in appearing the said examination outside Manipur.
ABVP Manipur informed the VC that many of the candidates belong to humble families and hence, many will face problems in meeting the expenses of flight tickets, accommodations and others.
The delegates, on behalf of the appearing candidates, requested the VC to either conduct the recruitment examination in Imphal or postpone the examination till a favorable situation arises.
The VC acknowledged the concerns and assured the delegation that the university would write to the Chief Minister of Manipur, seeking assurance of adequate security arrangements.
He further assured that if the State Government ensures security, the examination will be conducted in Imphal.
The meeting was attended by several candidates alongside ABVP representatives, emphasizing the unity and determination of the students.
ABVP Manipur reaffirmed its commitment to stand with students and ensure that their genuine rights are upheld. The organisation also stated that it will continue to follow up on the issue and urged the State Government to take swift action to facilitate the conduct of the recruitment examination in Imphal.
