IMPHAL, Dec  24 : WYC, Wangkhem interrupted the four game winning streak of YWC, Langthabal (YWC-L) by beating them by 2 wickets today for the fifth straight victory in 6 Group B matches of the ongoing 4th MNCA Superplate Tournament.
The fifth straight win at Moijing Public Ground after their first game loss also lifted them temporarily on top and assured themselves of a knock-out round berth as YWC-L still could finish on top if they beat PSC, Khuyathong in the January 2 fixture.
YWC-L won the toss and opted to bat first but were restricted to 120/9 in the allotted 27.2 overs Huirongbam Biteshwor Singh led the frugal WYC bowling charge before returning with the best bowling figures of 4/18 in 7 overs.
Seram Robinson 27 and Jiko Sorokhaibam 25 were the two leading scorers for YWC-L in the first innings that also saw Ruhit Nongmaithem (2/17), Gotimayum Mangi (1/32), Th Roshankumar (1/20) and Wangkhem Laksmon (1/17) of WYC sharing five wickets.
In reply, WYC had a stuttering start and were reduced to 10/2 in 1.5 overs as Maibam Subash and Y Athouba claimed a wicket apiece before Priyananda Thokchom put in a brave effort to add a 59-ball 49 and calm their nerves.
YWC-L's Y Chingkhei Nganba reduced them to 41/3 in 8.2 overs before removing Priyananda for the 4th wicket at 82 in the 17th over. He went on to claim the fifth and the 6th wicket to complete his fourth wicket haul and reduced WYC to 102/6.
S Robinson further undone Mangi Sharma in the first delivery of the 22nd over before Chingkhei Nganba claimed his fifth wicket in the form of Ruhit Nongmaithem but their efforts were enough to contain WYC as Huirongbam Biteshwor 11 and Netrajit Okram 8  produced an unbeaten 9th wicket partnership to take WYC to winning 124 in 27.2 overs.
Biteshwor was eventually adjudged player of the match.
Elsewhere in a Group A league match staged at Model Hr Secondary and Oriental College playground, PCC, Mayaikoibi returned to winning ways after three successive losses by beating YUCC, Kwakeithel Mayaikoibi by 6 wickets.
PCC bowled out toss winners YUCC for 110 runs in 30.4 overs riding on a concerted bowling attack before Longjam Ronald Meitei scored an unbeaten 55 off 46 balls (8 fours) to take PCC to winning 112 in 17.4 overs.
Devraj Nongthombam 23, N Rahulkumar 17 and L Bidyashwor 14 were the main run getters for YUCC in their innings which saw Rohit Soubam (3/10), L Chingkheinganba (2/16) and L Ronald (2/36) sharing 7 crucial wickets.
For YUCC, Somraj Laishram picked two wickets as Devraj and Kh Punshiba claimed a wicket apiece.
PCC skipper Longjam was eventually adjudged player of the match.
