Veteran Cricket : Jayenta smashes 150 to hand REYS 53-run victory

IMPHAL, Dec  24 : REYS, Nagamapal overwhelmed NAPSA, Kha Imphal by 53 runs for the second Group D win in the 21st Manipur Veteran Cricket Tournament 2024-25 organised by the Manipur Veteran Cricket Association.
NAPSA had to regret the decision to let REYS bat first as they saw Jayenta dazzle with an 89-ball 150 and Kenny strike 55 off 62 balls to post a commanding total of 251 runs for 7 wickets in 30 allotted overs. NAPSA then slumped to 198/9 in the chase to suffer a 53-run defeat. Gopal (2/51) led the NAPSA bowling attack as Ibobi and Ratan picked a wicket apiece.
 Goutam 47, Puspen 27, Somendro 25, Bipin 25 struggled hard for NAPSA in the chase but ended up gathering 198. Haoba 2/24 and Beda 2/44 shared four wickets for REYS in this innings as Boinao, Haoba, Chingkhei and Baleshor chipped in with a wicket apiece.
Jayenta was eventually adjudged man of the match.
