Edn-S Joint Secy appeals
IMPHAL, Dec 24: The Education(S) Joint Secretary has appealed to all the employees of Board of Secondary Education Manipur (BOSEM) to call off their cease work strike in the interest of the students of the State.
Some of the employees of BOSEM have resorted to pen-down strike protesting against the appointment of Akham Joykumar as the BOSEM Chairman.
Akham Joykumar was appointed by the Government on December 6, 2024 after calling eligible applicants through a notification issued on October 24, 2024.
The relative merits, qualifications, experiences etc of the five applicants were considered but no exam or interview is required as per the relevant rules, said a press release issued by the Joint Secretary.
As per notification issued by Education(S) on March 1, 2023 which was also approved by the State Cabinet, the maximum age for appointment as Chairman on deputation is till the age of 65 years or up to the date of retirement, whichever is earlier, it said.
The State Government is open to conducting an enquiry on any wrongdoing by anyone of BOSEM including Chairman on the basis of proof/evidence and shall take action as prescribed under rules.
Highlighting the urgency for printing, distribution, sale of textbooks and conduct of matriculation examination, the Joint Secretary appealed to all employees to call off the cease work strike in the interest of the students of the State.
