Slain scribe remembered

IMPHAL. Dec 23 : The 12th death anniversary of journalist Thangjam Dwijamani (Nanao)  was observed at the memorial  erected in his honour at Thangmeiband Cheiraoching today.
Dwijamani who worked as a stringer of DDK, Imphal and Imphal correspondent of Prime News was killed in police firing while covering a protest at Thangmeiband Cheirao-ching on December 23, 2012.
Offering floral tributes to the photo of the journalist was the main event of the programme which was attended by his family members, relatives and media persons.
Speaking at the event, All Manipur Working Journalist' Union (AMWJU) president Bijoy Kakchingtabam sought support from the people to ensure the safety of journalists who travel and work round the clock whenever the situation demands. He also said that AMWJU is considering giving an award to fellow journalists in the name of the late journalist Nanao.
Thangmeiband United Club (TUC) president Pratap Leishangthem also attended the programme.
