IMPHAL, Dec 24 : Concerning the written exam for recruitment to the posts of LDC, UDC and Field Pump Assistant under Central Agricultural University (CAU), the Democratic Students Alliance of Manipur (DESAM) has demanded relevant authorities to set up an exam centre within the State.
Addressing media persons at their Kwakeithel office today, Mayengbam Somorjit, president, DESAM informed that many candidates from Manipur are set to appear in the recruitment exam scheduled to be held on January 3 and 4, 2025.
Stating that none of the constituent colleges of CAU were included among the centres assigned for the recruitment exam, he strongly condemned the exclusion.
Highlighting the plight of the candidates, he informed that despite receiving their admit cards, the candidates are likely to miss the recruitment exam as travelling to exam centres in other States by road poses significant security threats in the backdrop of the ongoing conflict while travelling by air is not economically feasible.
In view of the challenges faced by the candidates, the DESAM president maintained that the Vice-Chancellor and Registrar of CAU and the State Government should mount pressure on the relevant authority to set up an exam centre for the recruitment within the State.
Additionally, DESAM will submit requests in this connection to the Ministry of Agriculture and other relevant officials, he added.
On another note, he conveyed dissatisfaction with administration at CAU citing the delay in the recruitment process of a regular dean for the College of Agriculture at Iroishemba.
He pointed out that though the recruitment notice/advertisement was issued on August 5, the process still remains incomplete.
Stating that such failure of the College administration should be swiftly addressed, he called for prompt completion of the recruitment process.
Additionally, DESAM has prohibited schools, teachers and other related authorities from causing financial distress to students set to appear for the HSLC and HS examination by imposing a mandatory rule to stay in boarding facilities.
Mayengbam Somorjit urged people to inform DESAM if they come across such cases.
