IMPHAL, Dec 23 : Chief Minister N Biren Singh has conveyed his Christmas greetings to the people of Manipur.
In his message, the Chief Minister said that Christmas is a time of love, peace and goodwill, a season that reminds the virtues of compassion, generosity and unity.
May this festive season bring happiness, prosperity and good health to everyone, he prayed.
"Let us work together to build a society rooted in mutual respect, understanding and progress," the Chief Minister said.
Manipur Legislative Assembly Speaker Th Satyabrata Singh has extended best wishes to the people of Manipur with the coming of Christmas festival, which falls on December 25.
In a message, the Speaker encouraged people to forgo ill-will and animosity among themselves and strive to create a prosperous State with the arrival of Christmas.
Many organisations of the State have also conveyed warm Christmas greetings.
In a joint statement the Thadou Community International (TCI), the Thadou Inpi Manipur (TIM), Thadou Students' Association (TSA) and TCI have sent Christmas and New Year greetings to all Thadou people worldwide and people of all other communities of Manipur.
The statement appealed to everyone to renounce violence and allow peace to reclaim its rightful place in the community.
Extending Christmas and New Year wishes, the Manipur Baptist Convention urged people to remain unwavering in their commitment to support the people of Manipur and foster peace, kindness, benevolence, love and compassion as shown by Jesus Christ.
Sending warm Christmas greetings, the Indigenous Peoples Forum, Manipur (IPFM) said it prays for peace to prevail in the land, for understanding to bridge divides, and for the spirit of Christmas to inspire acts of kindness and generosity among all this festive season.
Additionally, the Tribal Youth Council of Manipur (TYCM) and Federation of Civil Society Organisations (FOCS) Manipur have also sent Christmas tidings to the citizens of Manipur who have been besieged by almost 2 years of violent conflict with the hope that this Christmas season will bring an end to the crisis and restore peace in the land.
