43rd State Open Cash Prize Tennis Championship begins

IMPHAL, Dec 21 : The 43rd edition of State Open Cash Prize Tennis Championship-2024 kicked off today at Officers' Club, Lamphelpat under the aegis of the Manipur Tennis Association.
The tournament will see players of different age groups competing for top honours in 8 different events.
Men's Open
The opening day saw Brojendra, Becker and Premjit get first round byes and Lanchenba earn a first round walkover win to advance into the quarterfinals. Meanwhile, Pahten Keisham, Padmesh-war and Nonginsana picked up first round victories to make it to the last-8 stage.
Pahten staged a comeback to beat Ashinin Shinam 5-7, 7-6 (9-7), 12-10 in his first round match as Padmeshwar eased past Sunny Chirom 6-2, 6-0 and Nonginsana defeated Atom Kiran 7-5, 6-1.
Yoimayai, Dhanaraj, Rancher in U-12 Boys singles semis
The day also saw Yoimayai, Dhanaraj and Rancher progress into the semi-finals of the U-12 Boys singles competition.
Yoimayai, who got a first round bye, overcame Dhruv Malik 8-3 in a second round clash to seal his semi-final ticket while Dhanaraj got the better of RK Unnat 8-2. Rancher on the other hand clinched an 8-6 win over Austin to confirm his place in the semi-final.
In a first round clash, Soham pulled off an easy 8-2 2in over Aris to set up a second round clash with Arnav who got a first round bye.
Stage set for U-12 girls singles semis
The semi-final line up for the U-12 girls singles competition was completed today with Gucci and Gracy getting first round byes and RK Valeska and Seiza Asem registering first round victories.
Valeska eased to an 8-1 win over Mehreen Khan to set up a semi-final date with Gucci Y as Seiza Asem cruised to an 8-0 win over Masileima to meet Gracy in the semi-final.
