Society Based Cancer Awareness Workshop held

IMPHAL, Dec 21 : In a significant step toward improving healthcare and empowering communities, a society based  cancer awareness workshop is being held at Brighter Public School, Mamang Leikei, Andro, Imphal East.
Organised by Chhabi Sahayog Foundation, Manipur Prant in collaboration with Dev Desh Pratisthan- a mumbai based NGO and Saidham Cancer Hospital, Shirdi, the initiative is designed to raise awareness about the early signs of cancer, highlight the importance of regular screenings, and provide vital information on cancer prevention methods.
The workshop will also focus on encouraging individuals to seek medical help when symptoms arise, aiming to reduce the burden of cancer in the community.
Educational Sessions led by Dr Thokchom Kamala Wahengbam, a cancer warrior herself and Head, Women’s Wing, Chhabi Sahayog Foundation, Manipur Prant with the support of N Bihari Singh, Ch Memch and A Tombi- CSF Manipur Prant members, will cover common cancer types, symptoms, prevention, and early detection methods.
The workshop will feature open discussions and Q&A sessions to address concerns and provide a platform for community members to learn and share experiences. The workshop is open to all for the villagers of the Andro, with a special focus on women and the elderly, who are at higher risk for certain types of cancer.
The workshop witnessed the participation of more than 50 women and 25 men, who gained valuable knowledge about early detection, prevention, and treatment options.
Participants expressed their gratitude for the initiative, emphasizing how the session helped dispel myths and encouraged them to prioritize their health.
Dr Th Kamala said, "We believe that knowledge is power, and this initiative will help the people of Andro take charge of their health by learning about cancer prevention and early detection. Together, we can build a stronger, healthier community".
The event was also graced by S Santi Devi, Asha Worker; Ch Kundamlei, Asha Worker and Ch Tombi, Counselor, Maringthel, Andro as presidium members.
