Whether you like him or not, Shri Donal Trump is going to be the next President of the largest democracy of the world, next to Bharat. He will be sworn in as the 47th President of the United States of America on 20th January, 2025 as per the Constitution of America. He is 78 years old and his mental and other abilities are perhaps much better than the out-going one.
Shri Modi, PM of Bharat is extremely happy because he considers Trump as one of his great pals .Modiji congratulated Donald before he crossed the 270  mark ( winning score or seats ) .  Prime Minister Modi knew that he would certainly win – input from the highly authentic agencies. He was the first world leader to congratulate the triumph .It was not reported anywhere. As soon as Trump crossed 270, many world leaders including Rahul Gandhi congratulated him.
Bharat Prime Minister said in social media, “I look forward to renewing our collaboration to further strengthen the India-US comprehensive global and strategic partnership. Together let’s work for the betterment of our people and promote global peace.”The message is quite clear that ‘global peace’ includes Manipur, Myanmar and Bangladesh.
One prominent leader of the country who came to Manipur to see the problems faced by the ethnic communities  during or immediately before the elections Shri Ramdas Athawale  expressed his views on the victory of Donald  and he said , “Donald Trump is a Republican and my Party’s name is also Republican (Party of India). So, I am extremely happy. This will strengthen the relationship between India and the US.”
One local journalist said, whoever becomes the President of the United States, it does not matter here?  He was trying to emphasize that US presidentship has nothing to do with the situation here in Manipur and northeast  per say. I beg to differ with him – whether you are in Manipur or Gaza or Ukraine –we are going to be impacted by American foreign policy. Yes of course a country’s foreign policy is dictated by its self interest. If the prevailing situation is not convenient for them they will intervene.  If the big powers want to do something in any corner of the world in their own interest, they do intervene.
Like any other country the US foreign policy is also governed by their self interest. Whether it is Democrats or Republicans, the US interest is the primary concern for any move in the global scenario.
In the last century there was a long drawn war between Iran and Iraq(1980 to 1988). The war was sponsored by the superpowers. They were selling arms to the warring countries. Both sides fought for nearly 8 years. Finally they realized that they were fighting for nothing in the name of religion (Shia-Sunni supremacy struggle).  The fight was propagated and prolonged by the arms manufacturers and dealers.
Sometimes I feel that we are also fighting like Iran and Iraq sponsored by some vested interest forces. We are fighting for nothing; people are simple and innocent. Wherever they live, they want to live peacefully. In fact the turmoil and instability anywhere in the world are created by the leaders – by small or big. The big wars are created by big leaders. Small battles are triggered by small leaders. But ultimately the masses suffer everywhere. Leaders don’t live in relief camps.
The Chief Minister of Manipur, a diehard believer in the idea of Manipur was worried that Chin state is included in Manipur, wrongly or inadvertently in an official document relating to Vikshit Bharat 2047. I told him –  “Sir , why can’t we talk about a mega Manipur including Kabow valley” . He liked the idea – but replied, matter is serious, and the mistake in the document should be rectified.
Once upon a time even before American Democracy was born (1776) - the Kingdom of Manipur spread from Brahmaputra to Irrawaddy. Whether you call it empire or area domination or area of influence, Manipur was a potential power in the 16th & 17th century, though the Monarchy started a long time back in the 1st century. The worry today is that will Manipur survive the present turmoil created by the hidden powers?
At the same time it is also a fact that Melania Trump makes history as the third wife becoming second time, the first lady of the United States. This news has more coverage than Trump becoming the President for the second time. Another headline which has overwhelmed the entire yellow press is – ‘A great lady killer ’.
Trump & Modi (great friends) together can play a big role as global peace-makers, especially in the ongoing Ukraine-Russia war ,  conflict in the Middle East and more specifically in the Meitei – Kuki strife in the Northeast corresponding with the fluid situation both in Myanmar and Bangladesh.
Trump is good for the country and Manipur because he said openly, “I am a big fan of India”. Hope, he will do something good and decisive in this region for the sake of world peace.
