Registration starts for PM's Internship Scheme

The Ministry of Corporate Affairs, Government of India, has started inviting applications for the Prime Minister’s Internship Scheme (PMIS) 2024.
The PM Internship Scheme, launched by Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, aims to provide youths aged 21-24 years from low-income households with 12-month internship opportunities in the country’s top 500 companies.
The pilot phase targets 1.25 lakh youth, with a five-year goal to facilitate internships for one crore young individuals.
76 internship slots have been allotted to the State of Manipur.
This initiative aims to empower youths by providing hands-on training, enhancing employability, and building a skilled workforce for the future.
The internship duration is 12 months, out of which, 6 months will be hands-on experience.
The scheme will provide valuable real-world experience to the youth and bridge the gap between academic learning and real-world experience.
The pilot project is being implemented through an online portal www.pminternship.mca.gov.in.
Young individuals aged 21-24 who have completed 10th, 12th, ITI, Polytechnic, Diploma, or Graduates are eligible for the benefits under the scheme.
Additionally, no family member should be a Government employee or have an income exceeding 8 lakhs in the fiscal year 2023-24.
The registration will close on November 10, 2024.
Under the scheme, interns will receive a monthly stipend of Rs 5,000 throughout the 12-month programme.
This stipend is funded through Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) contributions from participating companies, with Rs 500 provided by the company and Rs 4,500 contributed by the Government.
Interns will also receive a one-time grant of Rs 6,000 to cover incidental expenses during the internship.
The training cost will be borne by the company from its CSR funds.
Further, insurance coverage shall be provided to each individual intern under Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana and Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana, for which premium amount shall be provided by the Centre.
