Santa Khurai's book shortlisted for Rainbow Lit Fest ‘A win would be icing on the cake’

IMPHAL, Nov 5 : Noted personality Santa Khurai's work ‘The Yellow Sparrow‘ has been shortlisted for the Rainbow Literature Festival, South Asia's largest and most inclusive literary platform, which is set to take place on December 7-8, 2024 at Gul Mohor Park in New Delhi.
The prestigious event invites submissions from fiction and non-fiction writers annually, with both publishers and authors eligible to participate.
It is said that this year's festival has attracted numerous compelling stories vying for the coveted Rainbow award.
After careful selection, three outstanding books in each category have been shortlisted. The notable finalists in the non-fiction category are Mental Health Journey, The Grammar of My Body and The Yellow Sparrow.
The Yellow Sparrow is a memoir written by Santa Khurai, translated by Rubani Yumkhaibam and published by The Speaking Tiger.
The winner is set to be announced on December 7, 2024 during the festival.
Meanwhile, Santa Khurai, expressed her pride in being shortlisted, stating that winning the top award would be the icing on the cake.
She further stated that being nominated for the award alongside with two exceptional books is already a remarkable achievement.
As a transgender writer from the North East region, Santa Khurai hopes her recognition will inspire fellow trans writers to share their stories, incubating a culture of diversity and inclusivity in literature.
