AITA National Ranking Tennis Tournament H Bushan, H Shanker progress into singles quarterfinals; doubles' semis

IMPHAL, Nov 5 : Manipur's top seeded players Haobam Bushan and Heishnam Shanker have advanced to the quarterfinals of the men's singles and semi-finals of the doubles competitions in the AITA Men's 1 Lakh National Ranking Tennis Tournament being hosted by Manipur Tennis Association at Officers' Club Tennis Court in Lamphel.
Bushan, who got a first round bye defeated Telangana's Darsh Agrawal 6-2, 6-2 in the second round (last-16) to book his quarterfinal ticket today. Bushan will play Naveen Nishith of Karnataka, who sealed a hardfought 7-6 (3), 6-1 win over Mokshak Challa of Telangana in another second round match, in the quarterfinal match.
Meanwhile, H Shanker eased 6-1, 6-2 past Yasharth Chaddha of UP in a second round clash this morning.
In another second round clash beginning at 8 am, Anish Prasanth Ranjalkar of Maharashtra outlasted Nishik Reddy of Telangana 6-3, 6-3.
In the following second round matches, Manipur's Ashwajit Senjam went down 2-6, 1-6 to Tamil Nadu's Gagan Rakesh Vimal as Neelam Devaharshith overcame Sachin Rana 6-0, 7-5 to set up a quarterfinal date with Anish Prasanth Ranjalkar and Anshuman Singh of UP outlasted Anshumat Srivastava of Bihar 7-5, 6-3 to set up a quarterfinal date with Gagan Rakesh Vimal. Rajeshwar Reddy Patlolla of Telangana also won 4-6, 6-3, 6-4 against Sidhant Deka of Assam to set up a quarterfinal date with H Shanker.
Doubles
The day also saw Manipuri pair of Bushan and Shankar edge 7-5, 6-1 past Vimal and Neelam pair to seal a semi-final ticket.
They will play Delhi-Haryana pair of Rana and Devam who outlasted Telangana and Maharashtra pair of Ganagam and Ranjalkar 6-2, 6-3.
In another quarterfinal match, Maharashtra-UP pair of Saksham and Yasharth picked up a 6-2, 6-3 win to set up a semi-final date with Bihar and UP pair of Anshumat and Anshuman.
