IMPHAL, Nov 5 : At least eight Longmai organisations have resolved to restrict movement of commercial vehicles beyond Noney District Headquarters from the midnight of November 9 (Satur- day) if the Government fails to settle the case  involving a resident of Longmai Bazar in Noney who was allegedly robbed at Tera on April 13.
In  a joint statement, chairmen of VCLA, Peih Longmai Village, Village Authority Longmai, Long-mai Bazar Board, RNCM Longmai Luangrian and presidents of LYL, LSU and NWU Longmai said that they have written to Chief Minister N Biren Singh to resolve the issue within five days (November 5 to 9) through the Noney Deputy Commissioner.
As per these Longmai organisations, one KP Naman from Longmai Bazar in Noney was robbed by a miscreant on April 13, 2024 at Tera Bazar.
They claimed that the miscreant confiscated KP Naman's white Toyota Fortuner along with Rs 13 lakh in cash, another Rs 3,500 from his wallet, one mobile phone (One Plus 10 Pro).
The Longmai organisations said that they have served  several ultimatums to book the culprit to the relevant authorities but there is no breakthrough in the case as of yet.
The previous ultimatum expired in the midnight of October 30, 2024, they added.
"Despite the several ultimatums given to the authority and the time taken in investigating the case without any breakthrough, it is pertinent that the matter be placed in the hands of the Government, who should bear the responsibility to resolve the issue to the best satisfaction of all concerned," they said.
They also said that the Government with all obligations to ensure and secure the safety of the citizens should be held responsible for failing to maintain law and order.
Serving a fresh ultimatum to settle the case within five days , the Longmai organisations said that they will restrict vehicular movement beyond Noney District Headquarters from the midnight of November 9 if the matter is not resolved satisfactorily.
