IMPHAL, Nov 4 : SHADOW, Thangmeiband got the better of MPA, Thounaojam by 2 wickets in a close fight for the third Group B win on the trot in the ongoing 5th MNCA U-16 Boys Naorem Rajningthou Memorial Trophy, 2024-25 at Khangabok Cherapur Public Ground today.
SHADOW won the toss and restricted MPA to 115/7 in the alloted 30 overs after electing to field first. They fought their way to winning 119 for 8 wickets in 30 overs.
Ch Muhinikanta 27, Th Rojit 13, Ch Yohenba 12 and Ch Sitaranjan 11 were the leading run getters for MPA today in an innings that saw Arubam Goshan (2/11 in 5 overs) and Sagatpam Telheiba (2/14 in 5 overs) sharing four wickets for SHADOW.
In the chase, Devis Khunjamyum 32 and Yohenba Konjengbam 31 made major contributions early on before RK Tomthinnganba scored an unbeaten 10 to steer SHADOW to 119. Chongtham Priyokumar was the pick of the MPA bowlers clinching three wickets (3/23) as two others claimed a wicket apiece.
Arubam Goshan was adjudged player of the match.
PTRC demolish SCCC by 267 runs at Khudeibam Lampak
PTRC, Patsoi Part IV rode on half centuries from Salam Richie and Priyojit Thongam and 78 extras conceded by SCCC bowlers to register a commanding 267 runs victory in a Group C encounter today at Khudeibam Lampak, Taothong.
Richie smacked a 48-ball 71 including 9 fours and 1 six as Priyojit hit 58-ball 58 and L Jackson added a 23-ball 43 to help PTRC amass 326 runs for 7 wickets in 35 overs after electing to bat first. S Bush 31 and N Ngambarel 26 also made significant contributions in the PTRC innings.
The huge total came despite Konthoujam Tomthinnganba's five wicket haul (5/45 in 7 overs) for SCCC.
Chasing the big target, SCCC slumped to 59 all out in 15.2 overs as PTRC's N Shivason (3/11 in 4 overs) and Henba Paonam (3/1 in 2.2 overs) shared six wickets between them and Laitonjam Jackson (2/3 in 2 overs) picked two to hasten the collapse.
Salam Richi was adjudged player of the match.
Preethson Arubam hands TRAU two of two wins
Elsewhere at Lairenjam Public Ground, Preetson Arubam scored a 78-ball 51 and picked 6 wickets to earn TRAU, Kwakeithel, a comprehensive 94 run victory against PTCC, Patsoi Part III.
Electing to bat first, TRAU were bundled out for 133 runs in 32.2 overs but defended their lowly total by bowling out PTCC for 39 runs in just 11.1 overs to seal their second straight Group D win.
Preethson Arubam 51, Mutum Swabhiman 27 and Ringku Moirangthem 18 were the main run getters for TRAU in their innings that saw Devas Tongbram enjoying a four wicket haul (4/20 in 5.2 overs) and Lanngambam Ningombam claiming two wickets (2/28) for PTCC.
Preetson (6/13 in 6 overs) and Mutum Swabhiman (4/3 in 2.1 overs) however poured cold water to PTCC's hope of clinching a victory as the duo took their turns to share 10 wickets to end the chase at 39 in 11.1 overs.
Devas 13 not out was the only batter who managed double digit score for PTCC in the chase as 7 batters were dismissed on ducks.
Preethson Arubam who produced an all-round performance was eventually named player of the match.
