AITA Men's 1 Lakh National Ranking Tennis Tournament commences

IMPHAL, Nov 4 : AITA Men's 1 Lakh National Ranking Tennis Tournament got underway today at Officers' Club Tennis Court at Lamphel.
The tournament is hosted by Manipur Tennis Association under the aegis of All India Tennis Association.
The opening day of the tournament saw H Bushan, H Shankar and S Ashwajit entering the last-16 round of the singles competition.
Top seeded players, Bushan and Shankar earned first rounded byes as S Ashwajit book the pre-quarterfinal ticket with an easy 6-0, 6-1 win over compatriot Huidrom Becker.
It was heartbreak for Maibam Lanchenba and Thiyam Joshua as they suffered opening round losses.
Lamchenba, meanwhile, suffered a 2-6, 3-6 loss to Darsh Agrawal in the opening round while Thiyam Joshua lost 0-6, 2-6 to Sachin Rana.
In other opening round matches, Mokshak Challa defeated Abyan Zaffar 6-1, 6-1; Anshumat Shrivastava beat Sudhir Singh 6-2, 6-1; Rakesh Vimal defeated Devan Shivam 6-1, 6-0; Neelam Devaharshith outlasted Shagnik Bose 6-1, 6-0; Anish Prashanth defeated Sakcham Chavan 6-0, 6-1 and Patlolla Rajeshwar Reddy cruised 6-0, 6-0 past Siddhanth Sastry.
Men's Doubles
Manipur's Shankar and Bushan also earned first round bye in the men's doubles competition and will play the Tamil Nadu and Telangana pair of Gagan Rakesh Vimal and Neelam Devaharshith in the quarterfinal tomorrow.
Gagan-Neelam defeated Telangana pair of Mokshak Challa and Darsh Agrawal 6-0, 7-5 today to make it to the last-8 stage today.
Delhi and Haryana combination of Sachin Rana and Shivam Devam also secured a 6-4, 7-5 win over Manipur's S Ashwajit and H Becker to set up a quarter final date with Telanaga and Maharashtra pair of Nishik Reddy and Anish Prashanth Ranjalkar, who got a first round bye.
Manipur's Th Joshua and M Lanchenba also suffered 4-6, 4-6 loss to Bihar-Assam pair of Sudhir Singh and Abyan Zaffar in the opening round.
Sudhir and Abyan will face Maharashtra-UP pair of Saksham Chavan and Yasharath Chaddha, who received a first round bye, in the quarterfinal.
Meanwhile, Bihar and UP's pair of Anshumat Srivastava and Anshuman Singh reached the semi-final as they got first round bye and the second round walkover win against Karnataka and Assam pair of Naveen Nishith and Sidhant Deka.
