IMPHAL, Nov 27 : The Pambei led UNLF claimed that Kuki-Zo people from Myanmar started entering Manipur decades back.
Further claiming that systematic influx of illegal Kuki-Zo immigrants is still continuing with the help of some sections of people under mischievous political patronage, the outfit said that they, however, take Kuki-Zo communities who participated in the first democratic election of Manipur held in 1948 as the citizens of Manipur.
Alleging that Kuki-Zo communities don't have the moral legitimacy to demand a homeland within Manipur, the outfit added that Kuki-Zo people who came to Manipur after 1948 are illegal immigrants.
It is these illegal immigrants who have been causing trouble in Manipur and their subversive activities are nothing short of external aggression, the outfit claimed and added that the outfit will face the armed aggression by foreign elements using all their might to safeguard the unity and integrity of Manipur.
The outfit also said that the ceasefire agreement which they signed with India is helpful in movement in red zone areas to resist the aggression of Kuki-Zo terrorists who want to break Manipur apart.
Saying that Manipur existed before the formation of the Indian Union in 1950 (pre-existing State) unlike Mizoram, Nagaland, Meghalaya and Arunachal Pradesh which were formed by India, the outfit contended that the unity and integrity of Manipur is non-negotiable and inviolable as per international law.
The British also acknowledged the sovereignty of Manipur while signing the Treaty of Mutual Trade and Defence in 1872 and the Treaty of Yandaboo in 1826, the outfit continued and added that India doesn't have the power to alter the boundary of a pre-existing State like Manipur given all the historical accounts.
The outfit, meanwhile, said that the ongoing crisis in Manipur , though appears like an ethnic conflict, is a conflict between those who want to protect the idea of Manipur and secessionists who want to break Manipur apart.
