Legal fraternity pledges by spirit of Constitution

IMPHAL, Nov 26 : The 75th Constitution Day was observed at the High Court of Manipur and the Lamphel Court Complex today.
Constitution Day is observed every year on November 26 to commemorate the adoption of the Constitution of India on this day in 1949.
The High Court of Manipur in association with the Bar Council of Manipur, High Court Bar Association of Manipur, All Manipur Bar Association and Manipur Judicial Academy observed the day at the High Court Complex.
Chief Justice D Krishnakumar, Justice A Bimol Singh, Justice A Guneshwar Sharma, Justice Golmei Gaiphulshillu Kabui, Advocate General Lenin Hijam, Chairman of Bar Council of Manipur S Brajabihari Singh, vice president of High Court Bar Association of Manipur H Tarunkumar Singh and president of All Manipur Bar Association P Tomcha Meetei attended the observance.
Chief Justice D Krishnakumar led the gathering in reading the Preamble of the Constitution.
"As we read the Preamble together today, we do not merely recite its words but pledge to live by its spirit.
Each of us, whether as Judges, lawyers, or citizens, has a responsibility to uphold the rule of law, promote access to justice, and ensure equality before the law," said the Chief Justice.
The Manipur State Legal Services Authority (MASLSA) in association with District Legal Services Authority Imphal West and Imphal East observed the 75th Constitution Day at the conference hall of ADR Building, Lamphel Court Complex.
District & Sessions Judge Imphal West Yumkham Rother,  District & Sessions Judge Imphal East Ningthoujam Lanleima and Member Secretary MASLSA Alek Muivah attended the programme.
The gathering read the Preamble of the Constitution.
Alek Muivah, Member Secretary, MASLSA highlighted the significance of the programme and stated that the Constitution of India is one of the most vibrant and working Constitutions.
The Indian Constitution which is more than 75 years old has successfully kept this vast and diverse Nation running without any breakdown of Constitutional mechanism, said Alek Muivah.
Open quiz competition on the Constitution was held during the programme and prizes were distributed to the winners.
