State cyclists bring home 14 medals from National Track Cycling Championship

IMPHAL, Nov 26 : State cyclists returned home with as many as 3 gold, 7 silver and 4 bronze medals from the National Track Cycling Championship which was held from November 15 to 19 in Chennai.
State sub-junior boys picked up a gold medal in the opening day as the sprint team comprising Heikrujam Lamjingba, Huidrom Suraj, Yumnam Sushil and Narengbam Max finished first with a time of 1:09.761 (one minute and 9.761 seconds).
The second day saw Mayanglambam Wattaba swell the gold medal tally by topping the junior men's keirin event before W Bidyananda claimed the third and last gold medal for the State team in junior men's sprint on the last day of the competition.
Notably, Daya Keisham, M Wattaba, Sarungbam Athouba and Tayenjam Bipil opened the medal account by winning a silver medal in the junior men's team pursuit taking 4 : 59.894 on the opening day as K Lanchenba, M Wattaba, Thounaojam Gyananda and Wahengbam Bidyananda took 1:08.767 to seal a silver medal in the junior men's team sprint competition.
On the second day, Tarunkumari Thokchom picked up a silver medal in the sub-junior girls scratch race as Wahengbam Bidyananda won a bronze medal in the junior men's keirin event.
On the third day, Ch Mangalmission won a bronze medal in the youth boys' 500 m time trial event with a time of 38.549 seconds as S Florence settled for a silver medal in the youth girls' 500 m time trial event with a time of 42.212 seconds. The day also saw Wahengbam Bidyananda winning a silver medal in the 1000 m time trial event for junior men with a time of 1:10.365 and Saikhom Florence winning her second silver medal in the youth girls individual pursuit with a time of 3:09.794.
M Wattaba won the 7th silver medal for Manipur in the junior men's individual sprint on the last day as N Max took 35.851 seconds to win a bronze medal in the sub-junior boys time trial event and Tarunkumari Thokchom sealed a bronze medal in the sub-junior girls individual pursuit with a time of 2:51.712.
