Criminal Acts in Meitei Mayek released

Imphal, Nov 26 : Chief Minister N Biren Singh has said that spreading awareness on the Indian Constitution is crucial to build a strong and united India.
He made the statement during the 75th Constitution Day held at the Durbar Hall of the CM’s Secretariat at Babupara today.
The observation was organised by the Law & Legislative Affairs Department.
On the occasion, the Chief Minister also released the diglot edition of the three new Criminal Acts in Meetei Mayek.
Speaking at the event, the Chief Minister appreciated the officials involved in the publication of the diglot edition of the three new major Criminal Acts in Meitei Mayek.
He maintained that the values, principles, and rights enshrined in the Constitution should be inculcated by the people of the Nation.
He also emphasized the need for the Executive, Legislature and Judiciary to work collectively towards bringing development in the State.
The Chief Minister said that the State Government has taken up various initiatives like “War on Drugs” to control the drug menace and curb the influx of illegal immigration in the State.
He further stated that fencing of the Indo-Myanmar border in Manipur has been initiated.
Saying that the Government is not against democratic forms of agitations, he added that committing violence during protest cannot be taken lightly especially if anti-social elements are involved in damaging public or private properties.
He expressed the need to weed out such anti-social elements from the society and to build a strong and united Manipur.
Law & Legislative Affairs Minister Thounaojam Basantakumar Singh stated that the Constitution is not just a legal document but a testament of collective aspirations for justice, liberty, equality, and fraternity.
He mentioned that the Constitution guarantees fundamental rights to all citizens including the right to equality, freedom, and protection against exploitation apart from outlining the duties of citizens.
