IMPHAL, Nov 24: All preparations have been made to celebrate the Manipur Indigenous People's Cultural Exchange Festival 2024 from November 29 to November 30 at Chadong, Kamjong district, said the Indigenous People’s Forum, Manipur (IPFM).
Themed "Manipur United by Diversity", reflecting the shared cultural heritage and historical unity of Manipur's indigenous communities, the festival is being organised by the Indigenous People’s Forum in collaboration with the Tourism Department, Government of Manipur.
"Manipur, a State enriched by its diverse indigenous communities, holds a deep-rooted history of peaceful coexistence. Since time immemorial, its indigenous people have lived harmoniously, preserving their unique traditions and fostering a sense of unity. This festival will serve as a platform to strengthen these bonds and showcase the vibrant heritage of Manipur’s indigenous communities," said the Indigenous People's Forum in a statement.
This historic festival promises to make a bold step to promote unity and cultural preservation. It is not merely a celebration but a powerful statement of solidarity, cultural pride for a harmonious indigenous future, it said.
The two-day festival will showcase folk songs, traditional and cultural dances, talent shows, meet the star, performances by artistes and a fair with food stalls.
"We extend a warm invitation to everyone—locals, indigenous tribes, tourists, and cultural enthusiasts alike—to come forward and be part of this historic celebration. Together, let us honour the legacy of Manipur’s indigenous communities, strengthen our unity, and showcase the richness of our traditions to the world," said the IPFM.
It further appealed to all Lups, clubs, frontal organisations, and associations to refrain from imposing any form of protest, bandh or blockade during the festival.
"We urge all stakeholders to support this event and demonstrate the oneness of Manipur’s indigenous communities," said the Indigenous People's Forum, Manipur.
